Legal
Privacy notice
The short version: this site collects personal information in exactly two places, both forms you fill in yourself. We use what you send to reply to you, we don’t sell it and no public page here sets a cookie or runs a third-party tracker. The detail is below.
Who we are
This website is operated by Landfills 2 Landmarks Foundation, of H4 Lake Avenue, Shito Street, East Legon, Accra, Ghana. Bale Index is an initiative of the Foundation. If you have any question about this notice or about information you’ve sent us, use the book a demo form and mark it for the attention of privacy. We’ll route it to the right person.
What we collect, and why
The demo request form. If you book a demo, we ask for your name, work email address, organisation, country, role, organisation type, what you’d like to cover, a preferred date and any notes you add. We use these to respond to your request and to prepare a demonstration relevant to your role. That’s the purpose, and the consent box on the form is the basis.
The updates form. If you subscribe in the footer, we hold your email address and use it to send Bale Index updates. Nothing else. Every update we send tells you how to come off the list, and you can ask at any time.
That’s the whole list. Browsing the site sends us nothing personal.
Cookies and tracking
No public page on this site sets a cookie, and there are no third-party trackers, advertising pixels or social embeds. The one cookie anywhere belongs to the staff sign-in area and never touches the pages you browse. We may keep aggregate visit statistics (which pages are read, roughly how often and which site sent you here) collected without cookies and without identifying anyone. There’s no profile of you here to opt out of.
Where your information lives
Form submissions are stored in structured files on our own server, with access restricted to the people who handle responses. If email notification of a form submission is enabled, the submission also passes through our email provider to reach the person responding.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it with third parties for their marketing. We use service providers only where the site needs them to function, such as server hosting and email delivery, and only to the extent needed to respond to you. If the law requires us to disclose something, we comply.
How long we keep it
Demo requests are kept for as long as it takes to handle the request and any conversation that follows, then reviewed and cleared out. The updates list is kept while you’re on it. Ask to come off, and you’re off.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, object to how it’s used or ask for a copy. Send any of these through the book a demo form and we’ll respond within one calendar month. If you’re not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
If how we handle personal information changes, this page changes with it, with the date below updated. We won’t quietly widen what we collect.
